Getting to La Paz

Before You Book Anything

Plan on arriving in La Paz by 5:00pm on April 5th. There will be a group dinner at a local restaurant that evening where everyone will meet their Captains and get instructions for the next day. Note: We will publish the cost of the dinner and location as soon as those details are confirmed.

For departures, do not plan on being off of the boats before noon on April 13.

The charter base is in the city of La Paz.

Once You’ve Booked

Send your flight itinerary to Julie – this is necessary to coordinate ground transport as well as knowing when everyone is expected (in case of flight delays, etc.)

Flying into La Paz or San Jose del Cabo

There is an airport in La Paz (LAP) and another in San Jose Del Cabo (SJD).  It is about a 3 hour drive from San Jose Del Cabo to La Paz that MUST BE DONE IN DAYLIGHT.  It is very dangerous to drive in Baja at night due to funky roads and cattle that wander onto the roads at night.  Do not plan to rent a car and drive after dark!

  1. Fly into La Paz directly. West coast folks will find that you have to go to Mexico City first and it takes a very long day to get there.
  1. Fly to San Jose Del Cabo and drive or take a van or bus to La Paz. We have chartered vans in the past, which is easier than dealing with the dozens of guys yelling for your business as you walk out of the airport.  It’s really quite a sight!  With enough people opting for this, we can coordinate this. Please send a message to Julie indicating that you are interested in van/bus transportation to/from San Jose Del Cabo to La Paz.
  1. Fly to La Paz via Tijuana. This option is very reasonable but takes some planning.  Fly, drive or take the train into San Diego.  At both the airport and the train station, there is an hourly shuttle that takes you to the TJ airport, after checking into Mexico at the border.  Board your flight to La Paz. Tickets for the shuttle may be purchased online in advance.
